German Teacher for Adult Beginners

We are seeking a passionate German language instructor to teach beginner-level adult students. This part-time role involves teaching a 3-hour class on 15 Saturdays per semester, focusing on communicative and practical language skills tailored to adult learners. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, organized, and committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.

Location: San Jose
Schedule: Saturdays, 3 hours per week (9-12 a.m.), 15 Saturdays per semester (August-Jan & Feb-May)
Start Date: August 2025

Compensation: hourly (between $31 - $35) + 1 hour prep time per week
Additional Benefits: Student scholarship, Professional Development sponsoring

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging weekly lessons for adult beginners using communicative teaching methods.
  • Introduce and reinforce foundational German vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skills.
  • Incorporate cultural topics to enhance language learning and engagement through flexible teaching methods and styles to match the students skills and interests.
  • Adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Communicate regularly with school administration and participate in occasional staff meetings or professional development sessions.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in German (native or near-native fluency required).
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent Saturday instruction.
  • Teaching certification or degree in German, Education, or a related field is a plus, but not required.
