The South Bay Deutscher Schulverein (SBDS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit school and teaches the German language and culture in San Jose / Campbell, CA on 30 Saturday mornings during the year. We have 220 students in 21 classes, a lively community with engaged and active parents and an average teacher / student ratio of 1:5.
Children in the Toddler class are approx. 2 years old and attend the class together with a parent. The teacher will plan and lead the students with their parents through the school day. For each Saturday the following activities are suggested as a minimum: 1 story, 1 song, 1 rhyme, 1 game, 1 small easy craft project or hands-on activity with unstructured playtime interspersed.
Class time is reserved for German language. German-speaking parents should help model use of the German language as much as possible, especially while new vocabulary is introduced. The teacher creates a fun and engaging environment, where children naturally absorb the language through play and repetition.
The Toddler class teacher is part of our L0-L2 team and may work with an assistant/substitute and may leverage materials and music teachers from other classes (PreSchool, Pre-K, Kindergarten).
Class time: 30 Saturdays from 9:15 a.m. until approx. 11:00 a.m.
